Early Morning Track Practices

Whoa.
It is D.A.R.K. at 5:45 in the morning.
The kids had track practice
...at 6:30.
That's right.
6:30 a.m.
That means they had to be ready to run at 6:15.
We stopped for apple fritters on the way.
(they were not done baking yet. Grrr.)
We also picked up a couple of friends.

Did I mention how dark it is?

I'm okay with it.
Next year Corbin will be driving them to the practice.
My taxi service days are numbered.
(sniff, sniff, tear.)
I am happy that they have found activities that they love.

Being a mom of busy kids is delicious.
(even when we get up at o-dark-thirty.)

Happy Spring Break kick-off!!!

Anticipation

Time flies when you're having fun!
I've said it a hundred times.
I've heard it a million more.
I can't believe that it's already March.
Yet at the same time
it seems like we've been waiting for this for a long time.
Maybe it has something to do with all the cold and snow we've endured this winter.
Spring has felt so out of reach this year...
until now.

Yesterday it was a sunny 77 degrees outside!
(It hasn't been 70 degrees since November.)
I was so excited about the forecast that
I dusted off a dress and sandals to wear to school!
Along with the warmer weather,
there's certainly a different atmosphere in school.
Today everyone seemed more relaxed.
Everywhere I looked, I saw smiles on faces.
Sunshine does that to people.
So do vacations.
We just happened to have both at the same time!

The countdown is ON.
We have one day of school with students, and then
one day of teacher's inservice before our Spring Break begins.
Tonight, as I sit here, I am giddy with the possibilities for the week ahead!
I'm not kidding....GIDDY!
I am smiling from ear to ear.
Mr. took off for the week, so
we'll ALL be home together...

...FOR. THE. WEEK!

I'm so happy.
What will we do?
The possibilities are endless.
...
Sleep in.
Work on home projects.
Clean the attic.
Clean out the butterfly garden and flower beds.
Get the garden ready for planting.
Clean up the flower pots and gardening tools.
Spend time at the Pond.
Take some day trips.
Have a lunch date as a family!
Oh my.  I could go on and on.
...

Only time will tell.
We know that we are ready for a break.
We are ready for some family time.
We've been talking about the week
and our lack of plans for a month now.
We're excited that there are no plans!
It will so good to just "be."
I am more relaxed just thinking about it.

I cannot wait to see what Spring Break has in store for our family!
If you are celebrating a spring break, I hope it is everything you desire it to be.
Most of all, I hope it finds you happy, healthy, and loved.

Anticipation is delicious.

Changes

We enjoyed a "Stay-cation" for our spring break this year.
Corbin had track practice, and Courtney had volleyball to think about.
We went to a volleyball tournament on Saturday, and then....
We  I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to paint Courtney's room!
A week at home?
That would give us plenty of time to take everything out of the room,
paint the trim,
paint the walls,
throw out the trash,
and rearrange the furniture!
WHEW!
It was work, but she chose a beautiful color, and her room is refreshed.
It's not a perfect picture, but you get the idea.

Once we got that job finished,
 we rented movies,
did laundry,
read books,
went to the movies,
did more laundry,
cleaned house,
watched more movies,
painted all the trim and wainscoating in the hall,
seriously...did more laundry,
sat by the fire (yes...it snowed)
and hung out together.

It was a perfect opportunity to spend doing a lot of nothing.

Spring Break.
It was delicious!
Now I really could use a day to just SLEEP.
(wink)

A week later.......
Here is a picture of her bed-wall with accessories.
You know how much a girl loves her accessories, right?
Uh-huh....I thought so.
She loves it even more now.
Whew!!!

We probably won't change it until she graduates anyway...
We might as well do it up right.
(Big smiles)

The Sunshine went on Spring Break, too.

Here are a few pictures from our extended weekend. We were able to play, eat, and rest while on Spring Break.   The pictures are just a small sampling.  LOL  I always take too many.

This was one of our last mornings on our trip. It was cool and rainy.  Nobody was using the kayaks.  Aren't they so colorful on a dreary day?

The Red Bud trees are in full bloom.  Beatutiful!  Breath Taking.

I'm no plant expert, but these little beauties reached out to me every time I passed them.  I had to take their picture.  ;)

This is a cloudy sunset.  Nothing spectacular.  Nothing fancy.  I could stay there forever.

Springtime in the Ozarks....it's delicious!

Living the Dream

Living the Dream
I love Christmas Eve when the house is quiet and there is nothing left to do but wait for Santa and Christmas morning to arrive!
